Artist Hands was founded by Helen Maier out of a deep respect for the curiosity and creativity of young children.
With over 15 years of experience in arts education, Helen has worked at institutions including The Huntington, The Norton Simon Museum, Barnsdall Art Park, London Transport Museum, and Dulwich Picture Gallery, as well as a Reggio Emilia inspired art studio and arts-based nonprofits supporting children in challenging circumstances.

Process Over Outcome
We prioritize the journey of creation over the final product. In our open-ended environment, children are encouraged to explore materials and ideas without the pressure of achieving a specific outcome. This process fosters critical thinking, self-expression, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Responsibility & Autonomy
Process art is not chaos; it is an invitation to take responsibility for materials, choices, and outcomes. Children are encouraged to make decisions, solve problems, and reflect on their work, fostering independence and a sense of ownership over their learning.

Recognizing Individuality
Through the process of open-ended creation, we guide children to appreciate their own and others' unique perspectives. They learn to express their true inner feelings with pride and understand that different approaches and outcomes are equally valid. This approach nurtures empathy, respect, and a sense of community.
The Joy of Art
Young children naturally love to create. At Artist Hands, that joy becomes a pathway for building resilience, curiosity, and community. Making art with friends isn't just fun; it's also a foundation
for becoming thoughtful, adaptable adults.

Why It Matters Now
In a world where machine skills are rapidly advancing, the ability to think broadly, question deeply, and express individuality will be among the most important skills for the future. Our approach prepares children to navigate and thrive in an
ever-changing world.
